If you want to be the showcase of Southwest Virginia, go to Harlan County High School just across the state line and check out the new school they just built.
Me and some Lebanon friends of mine went to watch the Devils play to see what they look like without the big kid and we all came away with the same thoughts:
Lebanon does not have the Mecca.
Virginia High does not have the best high school basketball facility in this area at all. If Virginia High had been built like this gym.... it would be THE showcase of not only SW Virginia but the entire Tri-Cities area.
The #1 high school basketball gym in this entire tri-state area that could hold 5000 easy with a great view from every spot even if it was standing room only.......is Harlan County High School.
I've been in Viking Hall for the Arby's Classic and I've been in the Dobyns-Bennett Dome and I even went to Richmond to watch the state games at the Siegel Center. I would call this place.......

If the new future Wise County high schools built something like this.... UVA-Wise would have a small college dream place to play. Wise County would have the VERY best facilities around to host not only local high school basketball but region tournaments and UVA-Wise basketball as well. This is the best high school gym in the Tri-Cities for high school basketball by far.
They announced that the girls from Lee High will play over there sometime this week. I am sure you will here more about this gym in the future from all future visitors. Its worth the drive over there just to see it and watch a game.

The HC girls are scheduled to come over to Lee tonight, then Lee goes over there Jan. 12..unless its changed.
Was there a good crowd for the game last night?
If they want an idea of how they would iike it to be.. I'd check this place out first.

letcher county central high is made very similar to that. very nice.
Sounds like you got to see a pretty good game at a great venue. The Devils certainly surprised me by playing as well as they did for the first game of the season.

Most all of the consolidated Kentucky schools look this way now. They are real state-of-the-art facilities. Bell county, Knox County schools are built on the same level.
